EA SPORTSTM-BIG presents SSX - its first title for the PlayStation^®2. Based on the new extreme sport of Boardercross, SSX combines eye-watering speed; butterfly inducing airtime, mind-blowing aerial tricks and bone crushing contact resulting in a truly surreal Arcade Racing experience.

Three different gameplay modes allow riders to test their skills in an exciting variety of boarding events. Feel like brushing up on some tricks? exploring expansive environments? or just generally goofing off? then Freeride is the way to go. Show Off gets you to perform tricks on demand and Race lets you take part Single Event or in World Circuit, the ultimate incarnation of sport as entertainment where superstars are idolized and losers are sent home!

As a "Newbie" rider you initially have to earn your "Circuit license" before entering Race and Showoff Events in the big leagues. In Race Events you compete six riders at a time against 24 of the best International riders in the world. You also need to showcase your solo style in Showoff Events, where it's all about catching big air and ripping huge tricks for the crowds' approval. But Tricks in SSX count for more than just style. Every trick successfully completed builds up your adrenaline reserves.

Seven different SSX courses stretch the bounds of reality to provide a wide array of challenges for everyone from beginner to expert riders. Want to burn down an iceberg in the South Pacific? SSX offers the "Aloha Ice Jam" on a huge iceberg towed into a Hawaiian port. What about tearing it up on an indoor pinball machine-like course? SSX has that too in the "Tokyo Megaplex," where riders must maneuver through dynamic ramps, flippers, and opening and closing doors.

Matching the fast paced action of SSX is the game's awesome soundtrack. Mix Master Mike, of the Beastie Boys, and Rahzel, of the Roots, recorded the game's theme song in their first-ever joint recording at EAC's state-of-the-art recording studio. The key element of the soundtrack is variety. Players no longer have to endure the same music over and over again. The totally interactive SSX soundtrack is based on your performance. Pull off one big trick after another and the music keeps pace, providing an original groove every time you play.
